How to Care for Your Handmade Crochet Items
Your handmade crochet piece was crafted with hours of love and care — here's how to keep it looking beautiful for years to come.
**Washing:** Most of our items can be gently hand-washed in cool water with a mild detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting — instead, press excess water out gently and lay flat to dry on a clean towel. Some of our cotton and acrylic items are machine-washable on a delicate cycle; check the care tag included with your order.
**Storage:** Store your crochet blankets and accessories folded (never hung, which can stretch the fibers) in a cool, dry place. Cedar blocks or lavender sachets work wonderfully to keep things fresh. Avoid plastic bins that trap moisture — breathable cotton bags or pillowcases are ideal.
**Repairs:** If you notice a loose stitch or a small snag, don't pull on it! Use a blunt tapestry needle to gently work the yarn back into place, or contact us and we'll repair it for free. Minor pilling is normal on soft yarns — a fabric shaver or sweater stone will restore the smooth finish.
**General Tips:** Keep crochet items away from rough surfaces and pet claws. If your piece gets wet, reshape it while damp and air dry completely before storing. With proper care, your Brooke Grace Handmade piece will become a treasured heirloom that lasts for generations.
